Pricy, but worth it. It's interesting to be able to get so up close and personal with art.

Apparently the most expensive entrance tickets in Japan (JPY 3,500) - compared to Australia, Japanese entrance prices are rather low.It is a rich art museum owned by a well established pharmaceutical company which bought the licence to make replicas of famous artworks from all centuries - printed on ceramic tiles, to preserve them for decades into the future. You can easily spend two hours in the multi story museum, and if you want to admire the art, you may need more time.Photos are allowed, but no flash photography.Sistine Chapel replica, Mona Lisa, Last Supper, Goya's Black Paintings, Andy Warhol and much more

It has a lot of the famous paintings. However, they are replicas and are printed on tiles so the large and up paintings have obvious lines between the long tiles in them. Colors are good but are missing the eye-popping colors as expected. Most are just prints but some have texture. Great place to see many masters as long as you are not expecting the masters themselves. Tours are very informative and plentiful. Building and people are very nice.

Lot of reproduction of art works with the actual size. Very nice to visite. If driving to the museum, it does have the parking in the building. If you are at the front of the museum ( guest you come by the express way), drive pass the front and you see the traffic light, turn left. Just 10-20m you will see the out door parking lot on your right. Pass the ticket gate and pick up the parking ticket, then bring it to the museum at B2 floor ti stamp and you get free parking. At the parking lot, they will have loop free shuttle bus to the museum.

Nice service, very considered. All exhibits are replica. Ceramic surface does not distort the visual effect very much, but still slight distortion. Educational.

Impressive artpieces, but it feels weird that they are all copies. Almost no Japanese art on display.

Though these are reproductions, nonetheless a very comprehensive collection of some of the most well known western master pieces spanning from Roman (Pompeii) till modern (Munch, Klimt, Picasso) times. An excellent opportunity to see beautiful art at (larger than) life size, up close with no crowds. The layout and display are well planned and definitely enhancing the experience. There are good explanations, though often only in Japanese. A two hours tour led by an experienced guide is free, but again only in Japanese. Spending nearly a whole day can be a bit heavy. But the museum restaurant was quite good quality and not expensive.

Spectacular museum even if you know it is only a replicas. The paintings are in real size and that makes it more spectacular. Good chance to see the most of European arts masterpieces.

Is it enough to go once? ... I may have expected too much. The Sistine Chapel was at the beginning of the route, with the peak first coming and nothing else going beyond it. The way of exhibition was too much and it was just nostalgic, but there was nothing that could be felt from a replica for museum lovers. However, it is fun to take a lot of pictures as if you went abroad because you can take pictures freely, and it is a very fun facility considering that it is an amusement park rather than a museum. The restaurant was delicious and the prices were conscientious and comfortable.

Not a good choice of museum if you have limited timeIt is good if you want to see replica of famous artwork from all over the worldbut yeah, only replica, nothing original

Do not dare come here without your own car unless you enjoy waiting a whole hour on a bus because the closing times and the bus are not aligned. The only other option is a taxi for 6000 yen.Which means this is probably the most expensive museum on the planet, despite havin zero real works.

I visited once several years ago, but revisited. There were many new discoveries for the second time and I enjoyed it very much. Although it is held regularly, you should definitely take part in the tour. It's a quick run, but it takes two hours to explain. And this guide is interesting. It is famous for being the most expensive museum in Japan, but I think it is worth the money. I'd like to return soon if possible.

The Otsuka Museum of Art was highly acclaimed by His Majesties the Emperor and Empress. When you enter here, you can feel at ease as if you were embraced by His Majesties the Emperor and Empress. The mystery of life taught by His Majesties. Life and death. A place where everything such as the purpose of living in this world can be understood. That is here.In order to protect this wonderful Japan, it is necessary to eliminate the pigs of the left-wing seller who hide in this country. Long live the Emperor! ! Long live the Emperor! ! Long live the Emperor! ! Long live the Emperor! ! Long live the Emperor! ! Long live the Emperor! Long live the Emperor! Long live the Emperor! Long live the Emperor!

Anyway it's wide.I am overwhelmed by the number of paintings exhibited. If you really watch it, it really takes 5 to 6 hours, so if you go as a part of the plan on a tour, you may only see it as running. There are various restaurants and cafes in the building, so I think it's better to take a day and take a break while taking a break. There are many masterpieces that are very delicately drawn, so you can get acquainted with the art and it is really recommended for sightseeing in Tokushima.

Otsuka museum of arts is the best place in Japan to see all world renowned artists famous masterpiece works but on ceramics at one place. Very well organized and displayed in a high-tech style and provide awesome attractions for tourists.

Museum in the mountains. It is a fortress.By the way, there was a very cruel picture in the exhibit. For now, I'll put two. I wonder if it's cruel. . . There are still, so please go and watch.

You can appreciate ancient, medieval and modern western paintings. You can also see and touch the work up close by saying "ceramic plate masterpiece".There are a huge amount of works on display, including masterpieces that you are not familiar with art and you know. In addition, because the hall is large, it takes several hours to go all around. There are many places to eat and drink in the hotel, so we recommend that you take a break and go around. There are also places to charge mobile phones. (Cable required)Many souvenir shops are sold and it is fun. I also sell Bon Curry because of Otsuka. .On holidays, there are large queues in front of the hall, so it is easier to purchase tickets online in advance.Adult rates are slightly higher, but I think you can be absolutely satisfied. (However, children may get tired quickly, so if you want to look carefully, it may be better to go only with those who want to look carefully.)

On the way to home town in the winter holiday I happened to drop in at O(h)tsuka Museum of Art which is located in Naruto City, very popular town for the spectacular sea vortex. The museum is quite unique as they display replicas of European masterpieces baked on ceramic board in its original dimension. This must be ONE of Kenny's Best Kept Secrets. I was, frankly speaking, astonished by the finish quality of "replica of Ohtsuka". The 1,000 paintings are supposed to remain as they are for 2,000 years, they say, thanks to the latest and innovative technology. Suppose you were Asian who visited Japan I'll definitely recommend you to come and see them once in your life as It's really " Vale la pena!"Kenny @ Justavi

It's worth visiting as you can see so many famous artworks from around the world, even if they are replicas.

Nice place to visit if you interested in art at one place you see all world famous painting replica made by ceramic.
Rob Waring
Big place. Too heavy on religious art and especially scary death images. Not a place for kids. Parking system is unkind - insufficient information. At 3500 yen its over priced but where else can u see reproductions of so much art in one place? It's criticized as being fake but it's not trying to be fake. It's trying to display the art in real size images and does it quite well. But I won't be back.

Good paintings, a replica of famous artist works around the globe. Devoted to ancient civilization and christianity. Worth a visit. Good earphones and speeches which explains each art. Rent is 500 yen. Worth a visit

A fantastic collection. Worth spending at least a whole day there. However getting there by public transport needs careful planning. Still worth it.

Come here for reproductions of famous European art done on tiles! Cafe Vincent here is quite good.

One can see the ceramic-board reproductions of over 1000 pieces of the world's most important art works in one place. Visiting it was like a history of art class experience.

No need to go to Europe anymore to see paintings! 大塚美術館 has everything!

Great building with nice view but every artworks there are not original. I might be wrong, but paintings are printed and baked on tiles or something..

Recommend to take 1 whole day to look around well, at least half a day ! Well we went there first time around 15:00 ish and a parking lot guy kindly told us to come back the other day because 2 hours were not long enough to look around the whole museum... we were surprised and came back and found out he was right lolPersonally i felt half day was not still long enough to explore details slowly lolIf you are not interested in Christianity scenery, you may wanna spend your money for something else lol because about half of the works are more or less christianity related .You wanna take break at cafes for coffee / lunch ! Also comfortable shoes would be important ;)The museum is like a tower built in a mountain ... some parts buried half , some parts exposed... on top there is a grassy terrace. It may connect you to somewhere nostalgic ☆*:.。. o(≧▽≦)o .。.:*☆

Strange place. A ton of money and effort put in and it does deliver on what it advertises. I wouldn't go back and I'd only recommend it if you're running out of museums to see. Go see Naoshima first. This place is like the difference between analogue and digital, or a naturally beautiful woman vs one who got there with plastic surgery. It has it all but feels strangely empty of soul at the same time
